Main set coming from Andy Cato, support from Greg Wilson, Todd Terje, Matty J, and Ben Terry.
Todd Terje was supposedly named after House legend Todd Terry. Terje comes far from less spralling metropolis of New York though, growing up in the rural village of Mjøndalen in Norway. A trained pianist and student of Physics at the University of Oslo. He spent his early years with friend Dølle Jølle listening to The Prodigy. It wasn’t long until they were making their own versions of house and jungle, which they then played from cassette tapes at junior high school-dances.
Then we fast-forward to the judgement day! The track that really made the industry prick up their ears was his edit of Michael Jackson. Soon the light fell on his wealth of incredible edits. From well known acts like The Bee Gee’s, Michael Jackson, Chris Rea, Wham, Paul Simon and KC & The Sunshine Band, to his more obscure stuff like Manuel Göettsching, Kid Creole and the Coconuts and other lost undiscovered dancefloor gems, Terje touched all tracks with a great musicality and playfulness.
Moving on from his edits he began working on his own productions and remixes. Most notably being his supposed cheese monster? ‘Eurodans’. Think a euro-dance style pop house record which sounds a bit like Mylo but good. Pete Tong even played it on BBC Radio One! And at just below 120bpm we call that a massive result. The recent Norwegian cosmic baleraric explosion, saw Terje safely secured as one third of the holy trinity of disco Vikings that is Lindstrom, Prins Thomas and himself. Terje’s played on some of Prins Thomas’ tracks and also remixed Lindstrøm’s ‘Another Station’ which became an instant classic. They are all great friends and Terje still finds time to hold down a monthly party Shari Vari in Oslo.
Moving to horizons new, this year Terje continues to work on his debut concept album. He will also be putting out the next ‘Press Play’ compilation on Tirk which we have to say we are incredibly excited about! Fruity
