• The last days of the summer in Ibiza saw some unseasonable and inclement weather, but, true to Lovebox luck, the clouds parted above the final party and everyone stayed dry. With a live Groove Armada show on a beach on Saturday preceded by the final night in the Lovebox Backroom at Wonderland, it was a memorable end to a memorable season.

  On Friday night The Lovebox Allstars and Rachel Barton kicked off the backroom at Eden while Groove Armada, alongside an incredibly youthful looking Pete Tong, played the big-room tracks to dancers numbering in the thousands in the main room. Andy and Tom then legged it into the Lovebox room to dig into their collections for the alternative deeper grooves, once again proving that the tastes of clubbers from San An and beyond are more refined than many give credit for.

  Amazingly, and with the inclusion of a great and wide selection of guest DJs, this scene has played out every Friday night for the past 16 weeks. It's especially encouraging and heartening as it flys in the face of a climate of newly introduced un-necessarily strict controls on the clubs which can really only serve to steal the soul from an increasingly homogenised scene. So while political policies increasingly cater to the so-called jet-set, the Lovebox backroom has been testament that a mixed and friendly crowd of all ages and backgrounds can co-exist on any dancefloor where the vibe is right and the music spontaneous and unexpected.

  Lovebox would like to thank the dancers, DJs and all the hard working people behind the scene who have made Lovebox's first year in Ibiza so successful and enjoyable. We salute you!
