The Fringe Field & Fringe Stage

The Fringe Field & Fringe Stage

1

Lovebox is not just about big acts, breakthrough bands and underground jocks - it's also about the boutique touches, bells, whistles and wonderful comic flourishes that have established the show as London’s only real festival experience.

Nestled within in a peaceful clearing of trees is the Fringe Field - a weird and wonderful alternative to the rest of the festival. 21st century hoedown pioneers, Cut-A-Shine host their own Barn-Dancing Tent with folk and acoustic sessions from the Magpie’s Nest and there’s hordes of walkabout performances from the likes of the Trans-Siberian Marching Band, The Whoopee Club and our resident magicians.

There the Affordable Vintage Clothes Fair with a bounty of beautiful clothes being sold and the Out Of the Ordinary Stage debut’s this year with what can only be described as a mind-bending symposium of esoteric learning on earth mysteries, crop circles, leylines and, yep - you guessed it, shamanism.

Unique to Lovebox and this year hosted by La Clique’s mistress of ceremonies, Miss Behave, the Edinburgh-inspired Fringe Stage returns to present another mouth-watering mix of operas, orchestras, comic’s and cirque.

Saturday:
There’s debut performances from Lollapalooza favourite’s Black Joe Lewis and his 8-piece rock n’ soul band and Skate Naked with their own fire-breathing antics and thong-tastic circus show. The Bees Knees will be hosting a giant ‘al fresco’ dance class and there’s gypsy fiddlers Hot Club of Belleville and sex god troubadour, Earl Okin both joining the bill.

Sunday:
Back by popular demand are Sunday headliners Dynamo’s Rhythm Aces and joined by Hypnotic Brass Ensemble - the much-admired seven-piece jazz / hip-hop innovators from New Orleans. The London Swingphonia debut Lovebox this year - a 20-piece orchestra of rat-packed hits sung by the spectacular, tuxedo-wearing Harry Martin and two shows from bizarre soloist, Opera Burlesque.

KIDS ENTERTAINMENTS:
Sunday is the de-facto family day, with not only a kid-friendly program on the Fringe Stage but specific highlights from Lovebox favourites, The Chipolotas, and The Jones & Barnard Show - both serving up a couple of hours of kid-friendly slapstick cirque, street theatre and comedy. And when that lot are atking a break, there’s the Pirate Ship, lots of magicians and resident kids entertainers Sharkey & George to keep them occupied!
