Filthy Luka / Luke Howard began his nightclub career aged 14 in his home town of Sheffield where he would visit the Limit Club to dance to the sounds of Human League, Shanon, Prince, Divine, Grand Master Flash & The Tom Tom Club. He began buying records when still in Sheffield but his collection really began to grow when he moved to London in 1985. Nightclubs and music have been his life since then and his DJ career took off when he became one of the first residents back in 1990 of Queer Nation, back when he was known as Luke Howard, which he played at for 14 years. His DJing style combines the disco and club music of his early club days with and the odd electro/no-wave/r’n’b/pop/rock sounds.

He is currently resident DJ at London’s successful Horse Meat Disco that specialises in dance music from the 1970’s and 1980’s. IN 2007 HMD became the first gay club to host, with NYC Downlow, a tent at the famous Glastonbury festival. He has also played at many of London’s popular gay and straight clubs such as Faith, Moist, Ministry of Sound, Discotec, DTPM, The Cock, Heaven. He has DJ’ed in New York, San Francisco, Denver, Atlanta, Rio de Janeiro, Moscow, Mancehster’s Hacienda and all over Europe in his since becoming a DJ in 1989. Luke has been DJ of the month in The Face and Attitude magazines. As well as being a DJ, Luke has been one half of pop duo The Most with DJ and London scene legend Princess Julia, releasing a single on Berlin's Beauty Case record label as well as doing remixes as The Most for Readers Wifes, No Bra, Temposhark & Siobhan Fahey. He has also had tracks out on Afro Art, Houseworks, Eighty Three West and in 2005 he released an acclaimed Salsoul disco mix CD ‘Salsoul Nation’ for Suss’d Records. Filthy Luka dances every year in the Rio carnival and has ambitions to be a go-go boy.
